SBHS Girls LAX Captures 5th Straight GMC Title

South Brunswick High School girls lacrosse squad wins tight contest over East Brunswick 9-7.

The names have changed, but the story remains the same for the South Brunswick High School girls lacrosse team.

Another year, another Greater Middlesex Conference title.

SBHS took home its fifth consecutive GMC championship on Tuesday with a 9-7 victory over East Brunswick.

The Vikings broke first blood in the contest when Marissa Cavett, AnneMarie Rolwood, and Kelly Ciabattone scored early to give SBHS a 3-0 lead. The goal for Cavett was her milestone 100th career goal.

East Brunswick would cut the lead down to two, but was never able to overtake the South Brunswick girls, as goalie Liz Ruedemann stopped seven shots for the win.

Both Cavett and Ciabattone scored two goals and an assist, while Rolwood notched three goals. Emily Ryan added two goals, and senior All American Elle Hvozdovic notched three assists for the Vikings.
