Veteran To Be Honored With Street Sign Dedication In South Brunswick

The ceremony will honor local Veteran Peter S. Bongiorno.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The township will once again be honoring a local veteran with a street sign dedication ceremony.

On Saturday, at 11 a.m., South Brunswick will hold a Veteran Street Sign Dedication Ceremony at the intersection of Sand Hills Road and Freida Lane in Kendall Park.

The ceremony will honor local Veteran Peter S. Bongiorno.

Bongiorno enlisted into the United States Army on February 8, 1944, during World War II. He was part of the 5th Infantry anti-tank gun crew, firing tank weapons during combat.

He was in the Central Europe Rhineland Battle in Germany and France.

Bongiorno served until his Honorable Discharge on May 4, 1946, with outstanding leadership and courage, receiving the EAME Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and a Combat Infantry Badge.
