The Arc of Union County Inc., Announces New Executive Director

Our Board of Directors is delighted to announce that Edwin Asuta has been designated as the Executive Director of The Arc of Union County. He is succeeding Frank X. Caragher who is retiring from the agency on June 30, 2023, after 33 years of dedicated service. Edwin’s appointment to the position is immediate and Mr. Caragher remains active as a mentor and advisor to Asuta during the transition period.

Until recently, Edwin has been serving as the Associate Executive Director, Operations with an administrative role on Operational Planning and Management, Strategy Development, Budget Development, Income Management, and as President of the agency HUD Board entities.

Edwin joined The Arc of Union County in 1994, beginning his career as a direct support professional. He was identified almost right away as an important asset to the organization with the potential for career growth and development.

His energy, caring attitude, innovation, creativity, fair mindset, and work ethic allowed his supervisors to see a lot of promise in his abilities. He was promoted to Assistant Supervisor and Supervisor positions in front-line management. His stellar performance soon moved him along career paths placing him in middle and upper-level roles of Assistant Director and subsequently department Director in 2007.

In 2010, Edwin accepted another new challenge in a promotional move to senior management as Assistant Executive Director where he continued to develop managerial staff, redefined various departments, pioneered the development of programs and designed agency systems to a high level of success. In 2018, he was promoted to Associate Executive Director, Agency Operations providing administrative and operational oversight on Finance, Residential Services, Adult Day Services, Workforce Development/Employment Services, and Clinical/ Healthcare Services Segments through 2022.

As the Associate Executive Director, Operations, Edwin thrived at the agency, incorporating business models into the current standards of the social services industry thus advancing the organization’s operational efficiency and growth until the current new appointment.

Edwin has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in General Business and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Executive Management. We are all very excited for Edwin to take on the overall organizational leadership of The Arc of Union County, Inc., one of the largest organizations in the industry in the state with six hundred employees, providing a broad menu of comprehensive services for people with I/DD.

We are confident Edwin will continue to champion agency development, growth, and program service delivery for our families and the wider community while continuing to provide excellence in leadership.
