Business Owner Enjoys 'Taste of Springfield'

Read on to see more about the taste affair.

By Jennifer Rapp

As a relatively new business owner in Springfield, I had heard of Taste of the Town but didn't realize a small company like mine would ever be included!   However, I waved my magic wand (made of mushroom barley soup and a super winning smile) and voila!  The Rotary Club asked me to be a vendor at this fun event :)

Taste of the Town was held at L'Affaire this year and is made up of local food and spirit vendors who gather for the evening to provide an actual "taste" of some of their best dishes.  My company table, Culinary Creations by Jenny, was stationed close to Stew Leonards Wines (how convenient and lucky for me!) and while I was more then happy to set up samples of my candy bacon and corn chowder for the guests, Stew Leonards provided me with samples of their caramel vodka (oh boy) so it was a win-win in my book!

Guests of the event paid a reasonable ticket price to enter, and then could walk around and sample as much of the delicious tastes as they like.  Some of the other local vendors providing dishes were The Olive Garden, McLynns Pub, Sophias, Cozy Corner Deli, and more.  It was such a nice feeling to be included as a local business amongst these other establishments and after a night of serving up quarts and quarts of soup and candy bacon, I was elated that the general opinion was that my dishes were in fact, delicious!

If you didn't make it to Taste of the Town this year, keep it in mind for next year when you'll once again get the chance to come out and support your local businesses and sample their best sellers.  A delicious and fun evening that I was proud to be a part of!

PS- Hey Rotary Club?  I'd like to be next to Stew Leonards again next year!  Thanks!
