Springfield Recreation Running Club has presented 3rd grader Madolyn Lanzafame with the Runner of the Year Award. This award is given for an outstanding athlete at the discretion of the coaching staff and Recreation Department. The Runner of the Year is a member of the Recreation Running Programs who embodies the spirit of excellence in athletic effort and the highest standards of conduct.
"Madolyn is exactly what any coach looks for," said Coach Michael Czech. "She always does her best, carries herself with dignity and class at all times and is a true joy to work with. She earned this honor and I look forward to helping her develop her running over the next several years."
Madolyn is a 9 year old 3rd grader at James Caldwell School whose favorite subjects are Science and History. She enjoys playing piano, Girl Scouts, solving Rubiks cubes, swimming and playing basketball. She lives in Springfield with her parents Mike and Susie and her twin sister Victoria. Madolyn's future aspirations include becoming an astronaut.
