Why I'm voting for Chris Weber and Elizabeth Graner for State Assembly

As a woman and a mother, I am thankful to live in a state that has strong protections for both reproductive freedom and common sense gun safety. I know how fragile our legislative majority is, and that is why I don’t believe in taking chances with my safety and autonomy. Chris Weber and Liz Graner are endorsed by Planned Parenthood, they will not back down or stay silent when it comes to our freedom to choose and our freedom to feel safe in our communities.

Matsikoudis and Munoz have also abstained on almost every reproductive choice-related vote. In a Democratic-controlled legislature, an abstention doesn’t matter much. But what happens if the tables turn? Then their silence becomes a vote against reproductive rights. Munoz and Matsikoudis voted NO on requiring gun owners to obtain a firearms purchaser identification card and expanding requirements for firearm registration. And, prior to Matsikoudis’ tenure, Munoz voted NO on establishing a Statewide Firearm Buyback Program and requiring background checks for the purchase of firearms.

As a resident of Springfield, I have personally gotten to know Chris Weber and admire his leadership as a Mayor and Committeeman. He is also an outstanding father, husband and friend to those that know him. He is quick to help out anyone in the community regardless of political affiliations. I have seen him step up and help seniors in need as well as families in crisis. No one knows all of the things he does behind the scenes (just because he’s genuinely a good guy).

As a former police officer, Weber knows how to keep communities safe and also understands the importance of gun safety. Our strong gun safety laws correlate with New Jersey having one of the lowest incidences of gun violence. Let’s keep it that way! And as a pro-choice woman, Liz Graner also shares my values for reproductive freedom. She is a teacher and a mother and understands the kind of leadership we need to protect our freedoms - as well as keep our strong public education system! I hope you will join me in voting for candidates who are willing to stand up for New Jersey values - safe communities, bodily autonomy, and top-notch public education.
