2 Summit Cars Stolen Overnight: Police

The stolen cars were unlocked with the key fobs left inside, Summit Police said.

SUMMIT, NJ — Two cars were stolen overnight from an Edison Drive residence, Summit Police said Tuesday morning.

Police said a 2018 Audi A5 and a 2014 Dodge Durango were parked in the driveway, unlocked with the key fobs left inside at the time of the theft.

Several attempted and successful car thefts have taken place in Summit over the last month.

Three Newark teens were recently arrested in Summit for attempting to steal a car. The car also collided into a Millburn Police unit on the Broad Street entrance ramp to Route 24.

Another two cars were stolen, and one was burglarized, earlier in June. All of the cars were unlocked, according to Summit Police.

Two weeks ago, a Mercedes Benz and a Jeep Wrangler were also stolen from Summit residences.

Summit Police have repeatedly reminded residents to lock their vehicles and remove the key fobs when parked.
