3 People Arrested After Stolen Car Pursuit In Summit: Police

Two men and one woman were arrested after attempting to drive a stolen car through Summit Wednesday night, according to police.

SUMMIT, NJ — Springfield Police Department pursued a stolen car into Summit late Wednesday night, which led to the arrest of three people, according to an alert from Summit Police on Thursday.

Police said when the suspect driving the stolen vehicle turned off Broad Street onto Washington Avenue, which is a dead end, all occupants left the vehicle and fled on foot.

Members of the Summit, Springfield, Millburn, Union and Union County police departments rushed to the scene and collectively arrested all three suspects — two men and one woman — within one hour, according to police.

Springfield Police Department then took custody of the suspects and the stolen vehicle, as the criminal charges stemmed from behavior occurring in Springfield, police said.

Summit has seen a recent uptick in car thefts, with a total of 19 cars stolen in the city this year thus far.
