Back To School: Summit's Calendar For The 2022-23 Academic Year
School is starting soon in Summit. Check out all the important dates you need to know this coming year:

SUMMIT, NJ — Back to school season is right around the corner, and there are some important dates to keep in mind.
The first day of school in the Summit Public Schools District is Tuesday, Sept. 6 — the day after Labor Day.
Schools will close on Monday, Sept. 26 for the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, and again on Oct. 5 for Yom Kippur.

As of now, there are no mask mandates for students and staff.
COVID-19 school guidelines could be significantly relaxed by the CDC in the coming days. Specifically, guidelines addressing screening for the virus as well as social distancing could be eased, according to CNN.

Here are some other important dates for Summit parents and students to look out for:
- Nov. 8: Schools Closed for Students/Staff PD
- Nov. 10 & 11: NJEA Convention - schools closed
- Nov. 24 & 25: Thanksgiving Recess
- Dec. 26-30: Winter Recess-schools closed
- Jan. 2: Schools Reopen
- Jan. 16: MLK Jr. Day-schools closed
- Feb. 20 & 21: President's Day-schools closed
- Apr. 3-7: Spring Break/Good Friday
- May 29: Memorial Day - schools closed
- June 13: Last Day for Students- Single Session
- June 19: LCJSMS Graduation
- June 20: SHS Graduation
