'Celebrate In Summit' Event To Feature Ice Sculptures, Carriage Rides

Horse-drawn carriages, live music and a visit from Santa are just a few things to look forward to at the "Celebrate in Summit" event.

SUMMIT, NJ — Summit is going all out for the holidays this year.

"Celebrate in Summit," which will take place on Saturday, Dec. 17 will include various holiday-themed activities — from horse-drawn carriage rides to ice sculptures.

The event will go from 1 to 4 p.m. on Beechwood Road in Summit.

Live music will be played throughout town during the event with strolling carolers and musicians playing holiday standards. The performing groups will include Hickory Tree Chorus, Christmas Matters Carolers and St. Gark & The Loamers.

Santa will also be joining the horse and carriage rides at Lyric Park. Rides start at the corner of Beechwood Road and Bank Street (14 Beechwood Rd for GPS).

Rides run until 4 p.m. but the line is cut off by 3:30 p.m.

Carriage rides have been canceled for this Saturday, Dec. 3 due to inclement weather, but rides will be available next Saturday, Dec. 10.

Local artist Kevin O'Connell, who painted the new mural by the Summit Diner, will be carving ice sculptures at the event, as well.

DJ Mr. Socks also will be spinning holiday tunes at The Promenade. All activities are free to the public.
