Bathrooms at Jefferson and Lincoln-Hubbard Elementary Schools, as well as at the middle school, will also be renovated.

New security cameras, fire alarm systems and upgraded playground equipment and surface materials are part of the renovations, as well.

Board member Yon Cho said the goal is for the work to begin in June of this year and finish in December 2024.

As the middle school and high schools are also expanding their STEAM class offerings, parts of the buildings will be closed in the 2023-2024 school year. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.

In addition, Cho said the cafeteria in the middle school will be out of commission for the fall semester of 2024, as it will be remodeled, and the high school media center will be closed for the entire 2023-2024 school year and the 2024 fall semester for the expansion of STEAM classes.
