'Miracle On Elm Street' Summit Event Rained Out, To Be Postponed

Due to a rainy forecast on Sunday, the city's tree lighting and ice skating event has been rescheduled.

SUMMIT, NJ — Summit's "Miracle on Elm Street" tree lighting event has been postponed due to a rainy forecast predicted on Sunday.

Summit Community Programs announced that the company that helps with the tree lighting requires that the City make a call based on weather no later than Wednesday, and there is currently a 70 percent chance of rain for most of the day Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Due to the weather, Miracle on Elm Street will be postponed and will be divided up into two separate events.

The Tree Lighting will now take place on Tuesday, Nov. 29. The event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. The tree lighting ceremony itself will be at 5:30 p.m.

An official announcement of event details will come on Friday.

Then, the skating portion of the event will be rescheduled for Sunday, Dec. 18. More details will follow.
