Summit Police Department Opens Doors to Community

Second annual open house gave residents a peek into police work.

Residents were given the unique opportunity to tour police headquarters, talk to officers, and find out just what police work means when the Summit Police Department hosted its second-annual open house over the weekend.

The initiative of Chief Robert Weck, the open house is meant to better connect the community with its police department.

Visitors learned about how many calls the police handle each year, just what kind of paperwork is involved in policing, and were able to get to know the department's officers. Some of the younger guests were even able to play Summit Police Chief for a minute or two.
