Overlook Medical Center Named Among America's 50 Best Hospitals

SUMMIT, NJ — Overlook Medical Center has once again been named one of America's 50 best hospitals, according to a recent ranking by Healthgrades.

For the fourth consecutive year, the annual ranking released by Healthgrades — an online healthcare information company — places Overlook among the top 1 percent of nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide.

Morristown Medical Center and Overlook, both part of the Atlantic Health System, are the only two hospitals in New Jersey that were named among the best hospitals in the country.

Healthgrades evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 31 of the most common conditions and procedures at nearly 4,500 hospitals across the country to identify the top- performing hospitals.

This year’s analysis revealed significant variation between America’s 250
Best Hospitals and hospitals that did not receive the distinction. In fact, if all hospitals performed similarly to America’s 250 Best, more than 160,000 lives could have been saved, the study found.
