Lights, Parking, Firehouse Sale Set To Be Discussed In Summit (patch.com) — Summit residents are being asked to weigh in as Common Council considers final approval of a long-debated lighting plan for the Tatlock Complex and new no-parking zones aimed at improving safety. The meeting will also advance the long-running sale of the old Broad Street firehouse site, recently appraised at $4.6 million, which sits in the Morris Broad Crossroads Overlay Zone.
   

2. More Than 10 Streets Impacted By Roadwork In Summit This Week (patch.com) — Drivers in Summit should expect delays this week, with more than ten city streets affected by utility-related roadwork and possible detours through Friday. Police are urging motorists to allow extra travel time and contact the Traffic Safety Bureau with any concerns about closures or changing conditions.

Local Restaurant Gives Back To Community: Best Of 2025 In Summit (patch.com) — Summit residents are celebrating Nick and Maria Zappia of Zappia's, a longtime local restaurant known for quietly supporting nearly every nonprofit, school and community event in town, even during tough times for small businesses. As part of Patch and T-Mobile’s Best of 2025 series, neighbors are invited to nominate more Summit people and places that made this year feel special.
   

4. Union County Interfaith Vigil to Honor Lives Lost to Homelessness on December 18 (tapinto.net) — Summit residents are invited to Fountain Baptist Church on December 18 for an interfaith candlelight vigil honoring Union County neighbors who died while experiencing homelessness. After the remembrance service, attendees can share refreshments and join a community conversation with state and nonprofit leaders about concrete steps to prevent homelessness and expand safe, stable housing across the region.
   

5. '60s Pop Star in Legal Battle With Management Company (parade.com) — Summit briefly steps into the spotlight as the site of Dionne Warwick’s recent 85th birthday celebration, even as the music legend faces a fresh royalties lawsuit tied to Doja Cat’s hit “Paint the Town Red.” The dispute centers on how much Warwick owes a rights management firm that helped secure income from the song’s sample of “Walk on By.”
