Social Media Post On Serial Killer Near Summit Is False, Police Say
Summit Police reached out to the Essex County Prosecutors Office and confirmed that the post being circulated is fraudulent.

SUMMIT, NJ — Summit Police alerted the community on Saturday about a false post circulating on social media about a serial killer in the area.
The post, shared to a Millburn/Short Hills/Summit Facebook page, claimed a serial killer or abductor was "hunting" people in Millburn. Summit Police reached out to the Essex County Prosecutors Office and confirmed that this is a fraudulent post.
None of the activity mentioned in the post is being committed in the Summit area and none of Summit's neighboring municipalities have been advised of this type of perpetrator nearby, Summit Police said.
