For those of you who don’t know, Battle of the Books is a reading motivation program. The goals of the program are to encourage reading for pleasure, broaden reading interest, and recognize students who enjoy reading. The New Jersey Association of School Librarians (NJASL) has been sponsoring this program for many years. Each district choosing to participate has flexibility to structure their program based upon the needs of their school. At the five public elementary schools and LCJSMS, it is offered as an elective activity held once a week during recess, throughout the winter months.

The library’s copies of the Battle of the Books are on display both in the Children’s Room and in the Adult Section. If you’d like a head start, check out 2022-23 Battle of the Books lists below.
