Summit High School Student Wins National Speech & Debate Award

The high school junior reached the maximum number of service points in the student Honor Society.

SUMMIT, NJ — Matt Lameo, a Summit High School junior, is one of the winners of the National Speech and Debate Association's 2021-2022 Speaking and Service Award, according to an announcement from the school district.

This award recognizes students who have reached the maximum number of service points in the student Honor Society. Lameo was one of only 184 students from more than 140,000 members to receive this recognition.

In addition to Lameo's active participation on the Summit High School Speech team, he is also a STOKES counselor, the Class of 2024 Council school spirit activities chair, a Lector at St. Theresa of Avila Parish, Assistant Stage Manager for the Theatre Arts productions, Secretary of the SHS Speech and Debate team and a student coach for the SHS Speech team and the LCJSMS Ted X program.
