Summit Makes List Of Top 10 Suburbs To Live In NJ

SUMMIT, NJ - The City of Summit is standing tall, making the list of the top suburbs to plant roots in around the Garden State.

According to the latest rankings by Niche of the 2025 Best Suburbs to Live in New Jersey, the Union County community sits at No. 6. This is right behind Haworth, and in front of Hoboken.

The ranks combine data from sources like the U.S. Census with the health of the local housing market, neighborhood diversity, area public schools and walkability, among others. (More on methodology.)

Summit, NJ Report Card

As a suburb of New York City, Summit has a population of 22,512 and what Niche calls a "dense suburban feel." Homeowners make up 72 percent of the residents, compared to just the twenty-eight percent that rent. The median home value comes in at $969,900 with median rent sitting at $2,308 per month.
