'Summit Marches On' Hosts Satire Event After Roe V. Wade Overturn
The event will include a satirical monologue performed by a local resident, as well as text bank training to encourage people to act.

SUMMIT, NJ — Following the recent Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, revoking the constitutional right to an abortion nationwide, the group "Summit Marches On" is hosting a satire and action event this week.
The organization — a group of concerned Summit women who formed the advocacy group after the 2017 Women's March on Washington, D.C., following the election of President Donald Trump — have decided to use comedy as a means for action.
"How else can we deal with this topsy turvy world SCOTUS is creating?" the group wrote on their Eventbrite page.

The event on Wednesday, June 29 will include a satirical monologue performed by Harriett Trangucci — a longtime Summit resident and mother of three. Her performance is entitled, "For bodily autonomy reasons, I now identify as a corpse."
Trangucci has appeared on numerous stages in the New York area and is a company member of Summit's professional theater, Vivid Stage — formerly known as Dreamcatcher.
According to Vivid Stage, Trangucci holds a B.A. in theatre from Indiana University and attended the acting conservatory at William Esper Studios in New York.
Summit Marches On will also be hosting a text bank training at the event. Text banking is essentially phone banking, but via text. It allows people to contact hundreds of other residents at once and is now a common tool for local activism.
The event description says attendees will be texting other Summit residents and getting comfortable with using phones as a means for action.
"We KNOW this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but we all need to step out of our comfort zones in order to win the next election," the group wrote on Eventbrite. "We're here to help you push your boundaries and support your growth so all of us can maintain our rights and dignity."
The event will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Oakes Center on 120 Morris Avenue.

Summit Marches On also recent hosted a rally against gun violence, following the mass shooting at an elementary school in Ulvade, Texas.
