Summit Police Gifted With Cash Give Back To The Community
Officers who responded to a call on Thanksgiving were gifted cash by an anonymous resident — they used it to give back to the community.
SUMMIT, NJ — Summit police turned their good karma on the job into service for the community.
Officers responding to a call on Thanksgiving were handed an envelope with cash inside and thanked for their service, even if it meant sacrificing a holiday with their own family.
"The envelope was turned into the Administration Bureau of our agency, where it was collectively decided that the money inside would be paid forward, back into the community," the department said in a Facebook post.

The police department used the money to buy gift cards from ShopRite and delivered them to The UPS Store in Summit to provide to the families that are recipients of the GRACE holiday gift card collection.
"We signed up to serve the City of Summit, and will continue to do so every single day, but we appreciate the kindness, and generosity of those thinking of us on the holidays," the department wrote, "We are also happy to know that a family who is experiencing some hardships, especially during the holidays, will be provided these cards and lighten their spirits during this time of year!"
