Summit Public Schools To Hold Forum On District's Bond Issuance

Parents and community members can learn more about the district's proposed bond issuance at a public forum on Monday at Summit High School.

SUMMIT, NJ — Summit Public Schools will host a public forum on its planned bond issuance to improve various facilities and programs in the district.

The public forum will take place on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Summit High School auditorium. The goal of the forum is to allow members of the Summit community to ask questions about the district's planned bond issuance and learn more about the process.

At the meeting, administrators will provide a brief overview of the bond, and members of the public can ask questions by approaching a microphone near the orchestra pit.

The Board of Education held a reorganization meeting on May 12 and presented a proposal on the new bond issuance.

Board members and teachers spoke about opportunities to expand the current Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) program, providing more electives to middle school students, enhancing school fields, as well as other renovations with the proposed bond issuance.

The district asks those who plan to attend the forum to watch the recording of the presentation and review the associated slides from the May Board of Education meeting. By watching the presentation and reviewing the slides, it will help save time at the forum for more specific follow-up questions.
