Summit's All-American Memorial Day Parade Set

The parade and celebration will be held rain or shine Monday.

Residents, friends and family and invited to attend and participate in Summit's annual Memorial Day All-American Parade Monday, beginning at 10 a.m.

The parade is being held rain or shine and is hosted by Summit's American Legion Post No. 322 and will feature the Legion, as well as Summit Police, Fire and EMS, as well as the Summit High School marching band. 

The parade begins at Beechwood Road near the Bouras Building where it will then proceed towards Springfield Avenue before turning toward Maple Street and on to the Village Green. Once the parade reaches the Green, crowds will gather for a brief and moving ceremony.

Both the parade and ceremony are expected to end by noon.  

According to an event release, veterans will distribute flags to children and various community organizations will march with the parade to show their support for those who died while serving our nation. This event is sponsored by the Summit American Legion Post No. 322 with support from the Summit Fourth of July and Celebration Committee.

The Legion extended special thanks to the Summit High School Band and the Summit Elks for their support of this event.

"This parade and ceremony is a great opportunity to say thank you to the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom”, Councilman Pat Hurley, co-chairman of the All American Parade, said.
