Summit Schools Selects New Principal Of Jefferson Elementary School
Nataly Farias is set to replace current principal Dr. Joseph Cordero at the Summit elementary school, pending approval from the board.

SUMMIT, NJ — Summit Public Schools has selected Nataly Farias as the next principal of Jefferson Elementary School, pending approval by the Summit Board of Education.
The Interview Committee — consisting of district administrators, elementary principals, a Jefferson teacher and counselor, the Jefferson main office secretary and a Jefferson parent — believe Farias will be "an excellent match" for Jefferson Elementary.
"Nataly exudes wonderful qualities that will truly complement and benefit the Jefferson school community,” said Scott Hough, Superintendent of Summit Public Schools. “She is a driven, collaborative, and inclusive educational leader, who is adamant about creating a positive school climate and culture, fostering high quality instruction, and promoting parental and community involvement that has proven to enhance student achievement..."

Farias’ previous experience includes eight years as Assistant Elementary Principal in the East
Windsor Regional School District. According to the district, she increased parental involvement for Spanish-speaking families by translating documents and live meetings, served as active participant on a committee to assist teachers in implementing interventions and create action plans and lead content, staff, data team and grade-level meetings.
Prior to her administrative experience, she was also an elementary school teacher at Newark Public Schools for six years.

During this time, the district said she analyzed data and differentiated instruction for all learners based on students' needs. She also assisted teachers in aligning instruction with learning standards, and attended and planned school events to promote student success and parental involvement.
“I am thrilled and excited to be selected as the next principal of Jefferson Elementary School,” Farias said. “I look forward to working closely with staff, students, families and the community to
meet all challenges and expand the growth of every learner.”
Dr. Joseph Cordero, current Principal of Jefferson Elementary School, will be assisting with her transition as he fully transitions to his role as Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Summit Public Schools.
