SUMMIT, NJ - For the third year in a row, this Summit teen will be running four miles every four hours for two days to benefit a New Jersey-based charity.

Brady O’Shea, 15, announced earlier this month that he will be running the 4x4x48 Challenge to benefit Freehold-based The Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide in 2023. As of Feb. 20, he’s already raised $1,000 of his $5,000 goal.

“They’re a great organization,” O’Shea said in a YouTube video. “I’ve had a chance to talk with one of their representatives. It’s just a great organization overall.”

“Summit PBA Local #55 is gladly standing in support of 15 year-old Summit resident, Brady O’Shea, and his mission to raise awareness surrounding the stigmas of teen mental health crises and suicide,” the local Police Benevelent Association said in a statement Saturday. “Please consider a contribution towards this amazing cause and incredible young resident looking to assist those that may feel they have no one left to depend on, and nowhere to turn.”

The Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide is a nonprofit aiming to increase awareness and reduce the stigma of suicide through specialized training programs and outreach resources for teens, parents and educational leaders.
