New Safety Feature For Bikes, Scooters Coming To Summit

The area will be under video surveillance.

SUMMIT, NJ — Riders of bikes, e-bikes, and scooters will soon have a new way to keep them safe while working or going out in the city.

The "Summit Bike Depot" is a weather-protected structure will be under video surveillance and include electrical outlets to charge different modes of transportation. It will be located on the NJ Transit side of Summit Avenue and Union Place. Residents are invited to a ceremony at 1 p.m. on Saturday where there will be tours, speakers, and information about how to get a membership.

Monthly and annual memberships will be available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis. A key fob will provide members access into the unit that holds a maximum of 32 bicycles.
