Summit Woman Honored In Statewide Awards For Keeping Community 'Green'
She was recognized for her efforts in developing and implementing waste reduction plans throughout Summit.

SUMMIT, NJ — The leader of the Summit Recycling Advisory Committee was honored Wednesday night for her work in the city.
Chair Mimi Zukoff earned the Volunteer Citizen Award from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection in their Recycling Awards Program. Zukoff was recognized for her efforts in developing and implementing waste reduction plans throughout Summit.
One of these projects was a partnership with the nonprofit, "BookSmiles" to prevent old books from ending up in the waste stream. In 2024, she helped provide 21,000 pounds of books to teachers and students in need.

The Summit Recycling Advisory Committee (RAC) is a group of volunteers that continuously looks for ways to reduce waste and educate residents on sustainable practices.
The RAC also gives suggestions to the Common Council for policies regarding recycling and the public awareness surrounding the city's efforts.
