📰 News we're reading
1. Tatlock Lights Usage Plan Approved By Council (patch.com) — Summit’s Common Council has approved detailed rules for using the new lights at Tatlock Sports Complex, setting strict ending times for youth and high school games and practices. The ordinance limits night varsity games, blocks summer and mid-winter use, and adds security cameras to address neighborhood concerns about noise, safety, and late-night lighting. Residents and councilmembers remain divided, but the plan clears the way for lit fields starting in 2026.

2. Banker from Monmouth County planning to join NJ-7 Dem primary (newjerseyglobe.com) — A former Summit councilman has exited the crowded Democratic primary to challenge Rep. Tom Kean Jr. in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District, leaving eight Democrats still running. Another potential contender, banker Giancarlo Simonetti from Monmouth County, is exploring a bid despite living well outside the district, arguing a centrist Democrat can win the seat.
