Thieves Target Cars In Summit Overnight: Police
Video surveillance shows the two suspects approaching both vehicles.
SUMMIT, NJ — Two suspects allegedly tried to break into multiple cars early Monday morning at a home in the community, Summit Police said.
At around 8:15 a.m., officers responded to Larned Road for a report of attempted burglary involving two vehicles. The resident told police the act happened at around 3:15 a.m. and provided video surveillance footage of her driveway.
Police said both suspects, both wearing dark sweatsuits and masks, walked up the driveway and tried to get into a 2024 Audi Q7 and a 2019 BMW X5. They were unable to get into the cars and ran back towards Larned Road near Watchung Place.

They did not try to get into the house, authorities said.

Over the last few weeks, the number of vehicle thefts, attempted vehicle thefts, and stolen cars entering Summit has been on the rise, police said. Residences in the region have also been broken into.
Remember to lock all doors, use alarms, turn on motion lights, and report questionable activity.
