Toy Store In Summit To Close Permanently

After serving the community for 20 years, The Toy Professor is set to shutter in downtown Summit.

SUMMIT, NJ — After serving the community for 20 years as the "neighborhood toy store," The Toy Professor will officially close its doors in Summit.

"It is with great sadness I have decided to close The Toy Professor," the owner wrote in an announcement. "Thank you to all my loyal customers. Serving you and your wonderful families has been a great pleasure."

The store is closed through Jan. 16 in preparation for its clearance sale, which will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. There will be major savings on the store's entire stock.

The owner's post was shared on a Summit Facebook community group, with many locals expressing their sorrow about the store closure.

One resident said, "I can always depend of the toy professor when I'm procrastinating as usual and need a gift and wrap ASAP. Love having a toy store down town."

Another wrote, "So sad to hear. A great asset to our retail community. Thx for all the joy you brought to town! You’ll be missed!"

The Toy Professor will be open for the following hours before it shutters for good:

  • Tuesday-Friday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
