What's Open, Closed In Summit On Thanksgiving?

Several city offices are closed for the holiday, and other schedule changes have been announced for the Transfer Station and recycling.

SUMMIT, NJ — The city is closing several offices and has made schedule changes due to the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

City office closures

City offices will be closed on Thursday Nov. 24 and Friday Nov. 25.

Parking holidays

The following dates are parking holidays in Summit with no fees required for on-street parking, or parking in municipal lots and garages: Thursday, Nov. 24, Friday, Nov. 25. and Saturday, Nov. 26.

Recycling and trash collection changes

There is a modified recycling collection schedule for the week of Thanksgiving. Recycling collection on Monday, Nov. 21, Tuesday, Nov. 22 and Wednesday, Nov. 25 is unaffected and will continue as planned.

There is no recycling collection on Thursday, Nov. 24. Thursday collection will be pushed to Friday and Friday collection will be pushed to Saturday.

Recycling items should be placed at the curb by 6 a.m. the morning of residents’ weekly pickup, or the night before.

Use the SeeClickFix app or the Report a Concern module on the city website to report missed pickups: cityofsummit.org/reportaconcern. Trash is still collected on holidays in Summit. More information is available at cityofsummit.org/recycle.

Transfer Station closures

The Transfer Station’s regular schedule is Tuesday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., and closed on Sunday and Monday.

The Transfer Station will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24, due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
