APP.com: Fundraiser Held For Former Teaneck Woman Killed in Shooting

Event raised money for family of Cara Ellis, who spent some of her childhood in town.

An Ocean County community held a spaghetti dinner Saturday to raise money for the family of woman who was gunned down last month while trying to help a man who had been fatally shot, according to a report on APP.com.

The woman, Cara Ellis, 21, spent some of her childhood in Teaneck and her mother still lives in town, NorthJersey.com reported.  A service honoring Ellis was held last month at .

Craig Mueller fatally shot Ellis Oct. 4 while she tried to help another man Mueller had killed in Little Egg Harbor, the Philadelphia Daily News reported.

Ellis' father, Robert Cahayla, 54, of Guttenberg, attended Saturday's fundraiser, according to the Asbury Park Press. 

"I think this is how people deal with grief,'' Cahayla said in the report." It's by showing support, saying, "I'm sorry.' You want to do something.''
