Bergen County Man Charged In Hit-And-Run That Hospitalized Teen

A man was arrested Monday in connection with a hit-and-run crash in Teaneck that sent a 17-year-old girl to the hospital.

TEANECK, NJ — A man was arrested Monday for a hit-and-run crash that injured a 17-year-old pedestrian in Teaneck last year, prosecutors said.

Elvis E. Sunder, 37, of Bergenfield, was charged with knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury and other charges, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office late on Monday.

Prosecutors said that on Nov. 23, a Saturday, just before 11:30 p.m., the Teaneck Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on Teaneck Road at the intersection with Tryon Avenue.

Police found a 17-year-old female from Englewood with serious injuries.

She was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Detectives determined that a 2015 BMW struck the victim as she was attempting to cross Teaneck Road. Then, the driver left, prosecutors said.

Sunder was taken on Monday to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
