Glen Rock Man Scammed Into Buying Gift Cards For 'New Boss': Cops
A Glen Rock man started a new job and complied with an email saying to buy gift cards, thinking it was from his boss. Spoiler: It wasn't.
GLEN ROCK, NJ — A Glen Rock resident told police on Valentine's Day that he had lost $2,200 by falling victim to a "gift card scam."
According to the Glen Rock police, around 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 14, a resident who had just started a new job said he had "received an email from an individual he believed to be their boss, asking for the complainant’s cell phone number."
Then, the person got a text message asking him to purchase Apple, eBay, and Xbox gift cards totaling $ 2,200.

When the man went into his office, he learned that he was the victim of a scam, police said.
The Detective Bureau is investigating.
