HACKENSACK, NJ — Students are going back to class at Hackensack High School after evacuating Friday morning, the fire department said.

The school was evacuated due to a police investigation, the district and police announced.

The district asked parents and guardians not to come to any schools or evacuation sites until being notified.

"Everyone is safe," the district said on Twitter at 9:43 a.m.

Police shared a similar message around 10:15 a.m. and said emergency responders are on scene.
