Hasbrouck Heights Man Had Child Sex Abuse Material: Prosecutor

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Hasbrouck Heights man was arrested Monday and charged with possession of child pornography, prosecutors said.

Abhishek Vijayakumar, 41, was arrested in Paramus on the third-degree charge, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors said that on Sept. 26, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit received information that he was suspected of possessing child pornography. In conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) – Newark Division, they investigated, including searching is electronic devices.

"The investigation revealed that Vijayakumar viewed, downloaded, saved, and/or possessed items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent children," prosecutors said.

He was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
