Hundreds Of Pills Found In Car, Man Charged In Bergen County: Prosecutor

Police seized prescription pills, packaged for sale, from a New York man's car and alleged he was transporting them through Bergen County.

TEANECK, NJ — A pharmacy employee from New York was arrested in Teaneck on drug-related charges, after a search of his vehicle revealed a stash compartment filled with several hundred prescription pills, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

Carlos Jose Cruz-Pena, 33, was charged with second-degree possession with intent to distribute prescription legend drugs, and third-degree possession with intent to distribute schedule IV drugs. He was taken to the Bergen County Jail pending his first court appearance.

An investigation found that Cruz-Pena, of Bronx, New York, was transporting prescription drugs, packaged for sale, through Bergen County, all of which were found in an aftermarket electronic hidden compartment in his car. He was arrested without incident at the scene.
