Knife-Wielding Man On The Run After Stealing From Bergen County Family Dollar, Police Say

Police in Bergen County are searching for a man who stole from Family Dollar, then pulled a knife on a worker who confronted him, they say.

TEANECK, NJ — Police are searching for a man who they say pulled a knife on a dollar store employee who caught him stealing on Saturday.

Tyrone Rosa, 29, of Teaneck was charged with robbery, terroristic threats, and weapons offenses — but remains at large, said Teaneck police.

Chief Andrew McGurr said that shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Teaneck police got a 911 call that a robbery had occurred at the Family Dollar store on Teaneck Road.

A store employee said that a man had stashed a speaker valued at $40 in his backpack and left the store.

When an employee confronted him outside, the man threatened him while holding up a utility knife, then fled, police said.

Police looked at cellphone video and surveillance video and identified the man as Rosa.
