Police: Teaneck Man Had 100 Rounds of Hollow Point Ammunition

Carlstadt police charged 31-year-old resident after highway traffic stop

A 31-year-old township man was arrested Tuesday after Carlstadt police found 100 rounds of hollow-point ammunition and an unregistered gun in the man's car, the South Bergenite reported. 

According to the report, police were patrolling Route 17 when an officer's automated license plate scanner picked up an expired registration on a car driven by Jonathan Agosto. 

Officers spotted a small amount of marijuana in plain view during a traffic stop, police said. After getting consent to search the car, police reportedly found the cache of illegal ammunition and a .38 revolver.

Agosto faces charges including unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow-point ammunition, the report said. He was ordered held at the Bergen County Jail on $25,000 bail with no 10 percent option.
