'Quiet Beatle' Tribute Show In Teaneck To Benefit Cancer-Fighting Org.
George Harrison will be honored in a tribute show hosted by Relay for Life of Glen Rock & Fair Lawn to benefit the American Cancer Society.
FAIR LAWN, NJ — More than 20 years have passed since the Beatles guitarist George Harrison died after a battle with cancer, and in honor of the late musician's 80th birthday, Relay for Life of Glen Rock and Fair Lawn is hosting a tribute concert to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
"The concert will be a retrospective of (George's) musical life," said Assunta Trischka, a longtime Relay volunteer whose fundraising team is producing the event. “The audience will enjoy Beatles songs, solo material, and more.”
"George Harrison: A Tribute" will take place at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at Debonair Music Hall at 1409 Queen Anne Road in Teaneck.

As Feb. 25 would have been Harrison's birthday, Trischka said her team is ready to celebrate.
“He may have been the ‘quiet Beatle,’ but his legacy is loud and clear," the volunteer said of the rock legend.

From folk to jazz, rock to bluegrass, performers at the tribute will come from a variety of genres, Relay for Life of Glen Rock and Fair Lawn said. Headliners are banjo player Tony Trischka, of Fair Lawn; soulful singer-songwriter Carsie Blanton; and bluegrass band Cole Quest (grandson of folk icon Woody Guthrie) and The City Pickers.
Joining them will be other musicians from Bergen County and beyond, the community-wide fundraiser said.
The local Relay has produced past benefit concerts honoring Gregg Allman, David Bowie and Aretha Franklin, all of whom lost their lives to cancer.
