Red Cross Shelter Training Planned in Teaneck

Township seeking volunteers to aid in emergencies

The following announcement was issued by the Township: 

 

On Wednesday, May 8, 2013, and Wednesday, May 15, 2013, the American Red Cross will provide training at the Rodda Center on Shelter Fundamentals. This is a basic-level course that introduces guidelines and procedures for setting up, running, and closing a shelter during a disaster. The Township is seeking additional volunteers to help staff the Rodda Center in the event it is used as a Temporary Transition Facility. Emergencies could include major storms, floods, fires, and other disasters.

Class participants must attend both training dates and complete the classroom activities in order to earn a course certificate. Course training will be held at the Rodda Center from 7 to 9 p.m..

Volunteers will work with trained Township employees to receive, register, and determine additional needs of displaced Teaneck residents.
