Renovated Teaneck Cinemas Announces Opening Date

Movies to return to Cedar Lane after renovations

The long-awaited Teaneck Cinemas will open next Friday after months of renovations to overhaul the decades-old movie house, the new owner announced.

Films are set to screen again at the Cedar Lane theater Dec. 20, according to a message posted Thursday night on the Teaneck Cinemas Facebook page. Anchorman 2, Frozen and Saving Mr. Banks are among the movies scheduled for opening night.

Once called Cedar Lane Cinemas, the town’s only movie theater closed last year when former owner Nelson Page said he couldn’t afford the high cost of upgrading to a new digital projection system. The theater had also fallen into disrepair since opening in the 1930s, and many residents worried its loss would be a major blow to merchants in Teaneck’s large shopping district.

New owner Matthew Latten moved in to revitalize the aging theater, ushering in a slew of upgrades and modern amenities. New features include a remodeled interior, seat replacements, a digital color marquee, party space and the digital movie projection system, Latten told Patch.
