The woman was sent to a local hospital after complaints of pain on her arms, back and chest, and with shortness of breath, police said.

TEANECK, NJ — A local driver backed his car into a woman, leaving her hospitalized, according to authorities.

Manuel Augusto had "purposely reversed" his vehicle into a woman, causing her to fall to the ground, after an argument escalated near an undisclosed residential address in Teaneck on Friday morning, police chief Andrew McGurr said.

Augusto had fled the scene prior to police arrival but had later gone to the hospital to check on the woman, while she was being treated for minor injuries in the E.R. He was found in the lobby and placed under arrest, McGurr said.
