'Sorry, I Been Drunk': Suspect Returns Mandolins Stolen From NJ Music Store

A viral video shared online by the music store earlier this month shows a man putting two mandolins inside his coat.

TEANECK, NJ — A man suspected of stealing two mandolins from a music store in Teaneck returned the instruments and left behind an interesting explanation as to why he took them.

The instruments were stolen earlier this month, according to the owner of Lark Street Music, which posted a video online of a man putting two mandolins inside his coat and then walking off-screen.

But a few days later, the suspect came back into the shop, according to another social media post from Lark Street Music on Dec. 26.

The man, according to the music store, sneakily entered the door, as if to avoid detection, and left behind the two mandolins along with a note saying: "Sorry I Been Drunk, Merry Christmas."

"You are a good man," the rest of the note said.

The man then left the store and ran down the street, according to the post. The shop's owner tried running after him but failed to catch up, they said.

"Not so smart, I lost him, called 911 and they are in pursuit," the store's post said. "Your re-posts and pressure definitely made him realize the walls were closing in. Thank you all!!! I feel like i'm in a TV movie."

The mandolins, according to a report by ABC News, were valued at $3,500 and $4,250. No arrests have been made, but the Teaneck Police Department told ABC News that they're investigating the crime.
