A 12-screen movie theater in Ridgefield Park is set to reopen early next month with a slew of upgrades and plans to eventually include a full bar, the theater’s new owner said.
Starplex Cinemas, which bought the Challenger Road theater, said the 85,000-square-foot facility would include 100 percent digital projection, 3D movie technology, luxury reclining seats and a high-tech lobby with interactive posters and video walls.
“The Ridgefield Park location will be a state-of-the-art theater with 12 auditoriums offering luxury seating and affordable pricing ($7.50 for adult matinees and children/seniors/military anytime). Future plans also include expanded concessions and a full-service bar,” Traci Hoey, director of marketing at Starplex Cinemas, said in a statement.

The revamped theater is set to open Oct. 4, according to a company spokesman.
Ridgefield Park would be Starplex’s second theater in New Jersey. The Dallas, Texas-based company runs East Brunswick Luxury Cinemas 13, which was recently renovated and features similar high-tech amenities.

Starplex bought the theater after AMC wasn’t able to reach an agreement over the new lease, the company said in May.
Teaneck’s lone movie theater on Cedar Lane has also announced it would reopen in October under new ownership after a major renovation.
