Teaneck Teacher Wins 'Favorite Teacher' Contest
Middle school teacher was nominated by student

A Benjamin Franklin Middle School teacher beat out 220 others to be win the Barnes and Noble "My Favorite Teacher" contest, the company announced Tuesday.
Teacher Monica Joffe was selected from the scores of other local entries at the Hackensack bookstore.
Student Alex Lecky nominated Joffe for the award and wrote the winning essay, according to Barnes and Noble. The two will be honored April 29 at 6 p.m. at the Shops at Riverside location.

"Students were invited to nominate their teacher by writing essays, poems or thank-you letters that share how their teacher has influenced their life and why they appreciate and admire their teacher," said a news release from the company. "Entries were judged on the compelling nature of the teacher’s qualities, the sincerity of the student’s appreciation and the quality of expression and writing."
Joffe will now head to a regional competition of other local winning teachers.
