Voters Lose when Candidates Fail to Participate in a Voter Forum

As Early Voting gets underway, the League of Women Voters of Bergen County regrets that it was unable to hold Candidate Forums this election season for candidates running in the County's six Legislative Districts (35, 36, 37, 38, 39, & 40). Candidates either never responded, declined our invitation to participate, or, where candidates did respond, we only heard from one party. The League’s long-standing policy requires participation from more than one party to ensure a fair and nonpartisan forum.

The League remains committed to helping voters make informed choices. For more than a century, we have hosted candidate forums, published nonpartisan voter guides, and led voter registration efforts across the country.

We encourage voters to visit Vote411.org—the League’s trusted, nonpartisan online resource—to learn where candidates stand on key issues and to find personalized election information.
