Teaneck Woman Rescued After Driving Into Hackensack River
A good Samaritan pulled the driver and passenger out of the vehicle, police said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Two people had to be rescued from an SUV a woman drove into the Hackensack River Tuesday morning, police said.
A Teaneck woman was exiting Spotless Car Wash on River Street in her SUV when she drove it straight into the river, said Capt. Nicole Foley.
Oriolis Ran saw what happened and jumped into the river and pulled the driver and passenger out of the vehicle, Foley said. Firefighters helped the driver and passenger get out of the water.

Hackensack fire officials said the driver hit the gas instead of the break.
The driver was taken to hospital for precautionary reasons. The passenger did not want medical aid, Foley said.

There are no barriers preventing vehicles from driving into the river at the car wash. Police are still trying to determine what exactly caused the SUV to go into the river.
