$1M In Jewelry Stolen From Ocean County Mall Jeweler
A vacant store next door was used to gain access to the store and a torch was used to get into the jeweler's safe, Toms River police said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Thieves using a torch broke into a large safe and stole $1 million worth of jewelry from an Ocean County Mall jeweler, Toms River police said Friday.
The burglary at Venzio Jewelers was discovered about 10 a.m. Thursday, Sgt. Gene Bachonski said. Representatives of the store told police the burglary happened between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday, while the store was closed.
The thief or thieves cut a hole through the wall from an empty store next door into the rear office of the jewelry store, Bachonski said. The phone and alarm cables were cut and the suspect or suspects used a torch to break into the safe and take the jewelry, he said.

The Ocean County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigation unit processed the scene, he said.
