Changes Coming To Halloween Celebration In Toms River
The impending nor'easter has prompted Mayor Daniel Rodrick to make some changes.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — With a threat of significant rain and wind on Thursday from a nor'easter, trick-or-treating in Toms River will be moved to Saturday, Nov. 1, Mayor Daniel Rodrick said Tuesday.
Trick-or-treating is usually held on Oct. 30 in Toms River to allow families to participate in and enjoy the Halloween parade, but the weather forecast for Wednesday and Thursday indicates up to 2 inches of rain for the area along with winds gusting to 50 mph. The storm is anticipated to clear out by Friday.
"Traditionally, our community comes together on October 31st for our World Famous Halloween Parade," Rodrick said. "This year, however, safety must come first as we prioritize the well-being of our children and families. With rain and strong winds predicted, it is paramount that we ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all."
